SCIENCE -- NanoscienceIndex. décimale : 531.7 Mesure de grandeurs géométriques et mécaniques. Techniques de mesure en général.Instruments. Méthodes. Unités Résumé :
Adhesion Measurement Methods: Theory and Practice provides practical information on the most important measurement techniques, their unique advantages and disadvantages, and the selection of the proper method for a given application. It includes useful information and formulae on adhesion related matters such as driving force formulae for various modes of delamination, methods for estimating stress buildup, and material property data in support of "back of the envelope" calculations. The author presents optimal methods and tools used for measuring the adhesion of coatings and thin films as well as setting appropriate adhesion strength requirements. He provides a detailed overview of uses, implementation, and drawbacks for qualitative, semi-quantitative, and fully quantitative adhesion measurement techniques and self-loading systems. The book discusses thermal-mechanical behavior assessment, the application of the continuum theory of solids, and fracture mechanics, highlighting useful measures of adhesion strength such as stress intensity factor and strain energy release rate. It provides specific examples of how adhesion testing is carried out in practice, including the peel test, the scratch test, and the pull test, and describes the measurement of residual stress in a coating or other laminate structure. The book concludes with examples taken from the author's experience in the microelectronics industry and contains several appendices for looking up simple formulae and material propertydata for performing everyday calculations. Adhesion Measurement Methods is an ideal addition for courses on materials science, mechanics of materials, or engineering design of laminate structures at the advanced undergraduate or graduate level.Note de contenu :
* Overview of most common adhesion measurement methods.
* Theoretical foundations of quantitative adhesion measurement.
* Elementary fracture mechanics of solids: application to problems of adhesion.
* Applied adhesion testing.
* Adhesion aspects of coating and thin film stresses.

Titre : Electric machines : modeling, condition monitoring, and fault diagnosis Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Hamid A. Toliyat, Auteur ; Nandi Subhasis, Auteur ; Seungdeog Choi, Auteur Editeur : London ; New York ; Boca Raton : CRC Press Année de publication : 2013 Autre Editeur : Washington : Taylor & Francis Importance : X, 259 p. Electric machinery -- ReliabilityIndex. décimale : 621.313 Machines électriques Résumé : Preface The development of the electric motor is one of the greatest achievements of the modern energy conversion industry. Countless electric motors are being used in our daily lives for critical service applications such as transportation, medical treatment, military operation, communication, etc. However, due to the fundamental limitations of material life time, deterioration, contamination, manufacturing defects, or damages in operations, an electrical motor will eventually go into failure mode. An unexpected failure might lead to the loss of valuable human life or a costly standstill in industry, which needs to be prevented by precisely detecting or continuously monitoring the working condition of a motor. This book was written to provide a full review of diagnosis technologies and an application guide for graduate and senior undergraduate students in power electronics discipline who want to research, develop, and implement a fault diagnosis & condition monitoring scheme for better safety and improved reliability in electric motor operation. Furthermore, electrical and mechanical engineers in industry are also encouraged to take portions of materials in this book as a reference to understand the fundamentals of fault cause and effect and to fulfill successful implementation Note de contenu : In summary:
1. Faults in Induction and Synchronous Motors
2. Modeling of Electric Machines Using Winding and Modified Winding Function Approaches
3. Modeling of Electric Machines Using Magnetic Equivalent Circuit Method
4. Analysis of Faulty Induction Motors Using Finite Element Method
5. Fault Diagnosis of Electric Machines Using Techniques Based on Frequency Domain
6. Fault Diagnosis of Electric Machines Using Model-Based Techniques
7. Application of Pattern Recognition to Fault Diagnosis
8. Implementation of Motor Current Signature Analysis Fault Diagnosis Based on Digital Signal ProcessorsElectric machines : modeling, condition monitoring, and fault diagnosis [texte imprimé] / Hamid A. EntropyIndex. décimale : 536.73 Deuxième principe de la thermodynamique. Entropie. Conversion de la chaleur en travail mécanique Résumé : This book is a revised version of my earlier book entropy and low temperature physics, with here rather less emphasis on the low temperature aspects of the subject. The concept of entropy lies at the heart of thermodynamics and is often thought of as obscure, even mysterious. The aim of this book is thus the same as before, namely, to make accessible the idea of entropy and to encourage an intuitive appreciation of its nature and use. In this new version, I have added exercises for the reader; mostly they are meant to be straightforward tests of understanding but sometimes they are used to extend the coverage of the text
