Chemical engineering -- Problems, exercises, etcIndex. décimale : 66.01 Travail et méthodes de l'ingénieur-chimiste Résumé : Richardson et al provide the student of chemical engineering with full worked solutions to the problems posed in Chemical Engineering Volume 2 'Particle Technology and Separation Processes' 5th Edition, and Chemical Engineering Volume 3 'Chemical and Biochemical Reactors & Process Control' 3rd Edition. Whilst the main volumes contains illustrative worked examples throughout the text, this book contains answers to the more challenging questions posed at the end of each chapter of the main texts. These questions are of both a standard and non-standard nature, and so will prove to be of interest to both academic staff teaching courses in this area and to the keen student. Chemical engineers in industry who are looking for a standard solution to a real-life problem will also find the book of considerable interest. Note de contenu : Summary :

It is the purpose of the present work to present to the student an account of the fundamentals operations froms a major feature of chemical engineering technology. This volum is divided into four sections, fluid flow, heat transfer, mass transfer and humidification. Since the chemical engineer must handle fluids of all kinds, including compressible gases at high pressures, we belive that it is a good plan to consider the problem from a thermodynamic aspect and to derive general equations for which can be used in a wide range of circumstances.Note de contenu : Au sommaire :
- Units and dimensions
- Flow of fluids - energy and moentum relationships
- Friction in pipes and channels
- Flow of compressible fluids nad two-phase flow
- Flow and pressure measurement
- Heat transfer
- Mass transfer
- The boundary layer an pipe flow
- Momentum, heat and mass transfer
- Humidification and water coolingChemical engineering, Vol. 1. Séparation (technologie)Index. décimale : 66.01 Travail et méthodes de l'ingénieur-chimiste Résumé : Chemical Engineering Volume 2 covers the properties of particulate systems, including the character of individual particles and their behaviour in fluids. Sedimentation of particles, both singly and at high concentrations, flow in packed and fluidised beads and filtration are then examined.
The latter part of the book deals with separation processes, such as distillation and gas absorption, which illustrate applications of the fundamental principles of mass transfer introduced in Chemical Engineering Volume 1. In conclusion, several techniques of growing importance - adsorption, ion exchange, chromatographic and membrane separations, and process intensification - are described.
* A logical progression of chemical engineering concepts, volume 2 builds on fundamental principles contained in Chemical Engineering volume 1 and these volumes are fully cross-referenced
* Reflects the growth in complexity and stature of chemical engineering over the last few years
* Supported with further reading at the end of each chapter and graded problems at the end of the bookNote de contenu : Summary :

Génie chimiqueIndex. décimale : 66.01 Travail et méthodes de l'ingénieur-chimiste Résumé :
Part from general updating and correction, the main alterations in the second edition of vol.3 are additions to chapter 1 on reactor design and the inclusion of a table of error functions in the appendix.
In chapiter 1 two new sections have been added. In the first of these is a discussion of non-ideal flow conditions in reactors and their effect on residence time distribution and reactor performance. In the second section an important class of chemical reactions-thet in wich a solid and a gas react non-catalytically is treated. Together, these two additions to the chapter considerably increase the value of the book in this area.Note de contenu : Au sommaire :
- Reactor design - general principles
- The design of catalytic reactors
- Process control
- Computers and methods for computation
