Hydrogéologie Résumé : Processing Modflow is one of the most complete three-dimensional groundwater and transport simulation systems in the world. The text and the companion full-version software (PMWIN) offer a totally integrated simulation system. PMWIN comes with a professional graphical user-interface, supported models and programs and several other useful modeling tools. The graphical user-interface allow one to create and simulate models with ease and fun. It can import DXF- and raster graphics and handle models with up to 1000 stress periods, 80 layers and 250,000 cells in each model layer. The model tools include a Presentation Tool, a Result Extractor, a Field Interpolator, a Field Generator, a Water Budget Calculator and a Graphic Viewer. Book and CD-ROM are targeted at novice and experienced groundwater modelers. The typical user is working as a hydrogeological or environmental consultant, in a water company, in a regulatory agency or a university. Note de contenu : Au soomaire:
1. Your first groundwater model with PMWIN
2. Modeling environment
3. The advective transport model PMPATH

Géohydrologie. Hydrogéologie Résumé :
Creating numerical groundwater models of field problems requires careful attention to describing the problem domain, selecting the model.
This unique text describes the science and art of applying numerical models of groundwater flow and advective transport of solutes.
Key features :
*Explains how to formulate a conceptuel model of a system and how to translate it into a numerical model;
*Includes the application of modeling principles with special attention to the finite-difference flow codes PLASM and MODFLOW, and the finite-element code AQUIFEM-1;
*Covers model calibration, verification, and validation;
*Discusses pathline analysis for tracking contaminants with reference to newly developed partical tracking codes;
*Makes extensive use of case studies and problems.Note de contenu : Summary:
1. Introduction.
2. Equations and numerical methods.
3. The conceptual model and grid design.
4. Boundaries.
5. Sources and sinks.
6. Profile models.
7. Special needs for transient simulations.

Base flow (Hydrology)Index. décimale : 556.3 Hydrologie des eaux souterraines. Géohydrologie. Hydrogéologie Résumé :
Increasing demand for water, higher standards of living, depletion of resources of acceptable quality, and excessive water pollution due to urban, agricultural, and industrial expansions have caused intense environmental, social, economic, and political predicaments. More frequent and severe floods and droughts have changed the ability and resiliency of water infrastructure systems to operate and provide services to the public. These concerns and issues have also changed the way we plan and manage our surface and groundwater resources. Groundwater hydrology: engineering, planning, and management presents a compilation of the state-of-the-art subjects and techniques in the education and practice of groundwater and describes them in a systematic and integrated fashion useful for undergraduate and graduate students and practitioners.Note de contenu : Summary of the book :
