Résumé : |
Despite the recent advances in our ability to predict many of earth's natural phenomena, determining exactly when and where an earthquake will occur remains a mystery that may never be solved. However, the techniques employed to mitigate the damage caused by earthquakes to our built environment continue to be improved. Fundamental concepts of earthquake engineering presents the concepts, procedures, and code provisions that are currently being used to make structures as earthquake-resistant as is presently feasible. |
Note de contenu : |
Summary :
1. Introduction.
2. Seismic regions of the world.
3. Earthquake genesis.
4. Earthquake propagation.
5. Measurment of earthquakes.
6. Characterization of strong ground motions.
