Civil engineers -- California
Earthquake engineering -- California -- HistoryIndex. décimale : 929:624 Biographies. Etudes relatives aux biographies ...ect. : Génie civil ...ect. Résumé : The oral history interview on which connections is based were initiated and are being carried out by stanley scott, formerly a research political scientist at the institute og Governmental studies at the university of California at Berkeley.
Recognizing the historical importance of the work of California's earthquake engineers, Scott began recording oral history interview with Henry Degenkolb in 1984.
This is tenth volume in connections : the EERI oral history series. The earthquake engineering research institute initiated this series to preserve the recollections of some of those who have pioneered in earthquake engineering and seismic design. The filed of earthquake engineering has undergone significant, even revolutionary, changes since individuals first began thinking about how to design structures that would survive earthquakes.Note de contenu : In summary :
1. Early years and family background.
2. 1942 - 1946 : reed college and world war II.
3. Caltech : graduate work and joining the faculty.
4. Filed studies of faults and geology of earthquakes.
5. Colleagues and work at caltch.
6. Consulting on major dams and water projects.
