The book is intended undergraduate, postgraduate and engineering students, as well as PhD students, researchers and lecturers in electrical engineering, who wish to learn and/or extend their knowledge of numerical computation for the purposes of dimensioning and computer-aided design. The aim of the book is to provide an in-depth analysis of the process of modelling electromagnetic devices. The effectiveness of the interpretation of modelling results cannot be dissociated from knowledge of the calculation tool. The 1st chapter of the book is devoted to the formulation of the electromagnetic problem and the process of solving it usi,g the finite element method. The 2nd chapter presents the characteristics of the finite element code 'FELFEM', its application to the resolution of a test problem and the study of a real electrical machine. The 3rd chapter presents the problem of taking into account the movement of the machine rotor and describes the technique for coupling the finite element method (FEM) to an analytical solution represented by a macro-elemnt (ME). This process of coupling FEM and ME leads to high-performance modelling of devices having moving parts, such as rotating machines, actuators, contactors, etc. |
