Résumé : |
In this essay are described new approachs to model the adaptive capacities of the neuronal circuits in the cerebral cortex, on the basis of fundamental neurobiological facts pertaining to this structure. types of behaviour which are considered include visual guidance of handmovement; invariant pattern recognition and language learning. the general theory presented in this book shares common features with connectionnist models, but takes into account the hierarchical organizational levels of the brain : synapses, neurons, columns, maps, and sensorimotors systems. |

Contents:
*Chap.1: Cellular level: basic function of neurons
*Chap.2: The basic mechanism of the cortical column
*Chap.3: Cortex within the nervous system and organization of the cortical network
*Chap.4: Regional specializations of cortical function
*Chap.5: Cortical adaptive mechanism and language learning |
