This volume contains the proceedings of the international symposium on metals speciation, separation, and recovery, held in chicago, il, july 27 through august 1, 1986. The symposium grew from a belief shared by many environmental engineers and scientists that there is a need for a searching reassessment of current policies for and methods of managing toxic metal pollutants. These proceedings contain the three keynote and 26 scientific and technical papers presented at the symposium, together with a written discussion of each paper. By intent, attendance at the symposium was limited to approximately 100 engineers and scientists having research and practical interests directly related to the symposium subject; 123 individuals, including speakers, were admitted to the symposium. In consequence of the focused interests of the participants, and the relevance of the symposium subject to environmental protection, discussion and debate were vigorous.
In recognition of the wider audience concerned with metals speciation, separation, and recovery, it was decided to publish these proceedings. The editors would like to express their apprecition to the authors of the papers and written discussions. | Note de contenu : | In summary :
1. Crystallization and precipitation phenomena
2. Metals speciation: models and methods
3. Membrane and biological processes
4. Metals speciation: ligand design and kinetic controls
5. Sorption on surface oxides
6. Ion exchange separations
7. Metals recovery applications process research
8. Metals recovery applications: case studies |
