This is the second volume in the series concrete technology and desugn aimed to bridge the gap between materials science and design. As in volume on, the book is devoted to a single theme and the chapter subjects are selected in such a way that they contribute to the central theme and at the same time interact closely with each other. This particular volume aims to show that conventional reinforced concrete, as we understand it and as has been used fir ovre a century, is not the only from that reinforced concret can take. Ferrocement and fibre reinforeced concrete, which from the basis of this book are neither new to engineers nor are they in reality new forms of construction, although engineers seem to have forgotten the pionerring role played by these tow materials in the early history of concrete construction. |
