Sediments (Geology) -- Problems, exercises, etc
Roches sédimentaires -- Problèmes et exercices
Sédiments (géologie) -- Problèmes et exercicesIndex. décimale : 551.3.051 Sédimentation. Stratification Résumé :
This manual contains sedimentology exercises for students; it is not a sedimentology reference manual. In the following pages you will find ten exercices, some of which require more than one laboratory session to complete. The study of sedimentology involves consideration of sedimentary materials, sedimentary processes, and the various products of these processes, with the ultimate end in view of interpreting the three-dimensional relationships of sedimentary starta. This manual contains exercises designed to introduce the student to the procedures used in sedimentological analysis.Note de contenu : Au sommaire :
- Sedimentary particles
- Textural analysis of sand
- Size analysis of silt and clay
- Graphic presentation of particle - size distribution
- Heavy - mineral analysis and provenance
- Carbonate staining and peels
- Description and classification of sedimentary rocks in hand specimen and thin section : interabasinal rocks
- Description and classification of sedimentary rocks in hand specimen and thin section : extrabasinal and pyroclastic rocksExercises in sedimentology [texte imprimé] / Friedman , Gerald M, Auteur ; Johnson , Kenneth G, Auteur . - New York : Wiley, 1982 . - XIII-208 p. : ill. ; 29 cm.

SedimentologyIndex. décimale : 552.5 Roches sédimentaires Résumé :
The study of sedimentology involves a dynamic interplay with many of the nother branches of geology. Its tools range from those used to measure the submicroscopic to ones involving the use of radar, the reflection seismograph, and earth satellites. In the introduction of part 1 he define the wide scope of sedimentology, as we see it, a scope which may be broader the that of some of our colleagues. Actually sedimentology is such an unfamiliar term to som geologists that it has not yet become a heading in the index section of bibliography and index of geology. This book in intended to be used as a text in undergraduate and graduate courses of sedimentology.Note de contenu : Au sommaire :
- Sedimentology as an adventure in ideas
- Sedimentary praticles
- Kinds of sedimentary particles
- Properties of sedimentary particles
- Sedimentary processes
- Physical processes. Dynamics of moving particles and fluids
- Biological and chemical processes
- How sedimentary Rocks
- Classifying, naming, and historical backround of sedimentary rocks
- Modern sedimentary environments and their products in the rock record
- Analyzing the strayigraphic recordPrinciples of sedimentology [texte imprimé] / Friedman , Gerald M, Auteur ; Sanders , John E, Auteur . - New York : Wiley, 1978 . - XIII-792 p. : ill. ; 29 cm.
